Description of Services

Casting Concrete Cylinders – Is the process of having a CMT Technician cast a set of 3" x 6", 4" x 8" or 6" x 12" concrete cylinder from a fresh batch of concrete in the field so it can be tested for compressive strength after a certain cure time.

Casting Concrete Beams - Is the process of having a CMT Technician cast a 6" x 6" x 22" concrete beam from a fresh batch of concrete in the field so it can be tested for flexural strength after a certain cure time.

Casting Concrete Cubes - Is the process of having a CMT Technician cast a set of 2" x 2" x 2" concrete cubes from a fresh batch of concrete in the field so it can be tested for compressive strength after a certain cure time.

Casting Concrete Grout Prisms - Is the process of having a CMT Technician cast a 3" x 3" x 6" grout prism from a fresh batch of concrete grout in the field so it can be tested for compressive strength after a certain cure time.

Compressive Strength Test – Is the process of applying an increasing compressive load with a hydraulic concrete break machine on a cured concrete cylinder, a concrete cube or a grout prism until the samples break completely. At that point a reading is taken of the maximum load applied and then the compressive strength is calculated.

Drilled Cores – Is the process of having a field technician drill a specified diameter core the full depth of an existing concrete slab or wall with a portable concrete core rig with a diamond tip core barrel.

Concrete Thickness Verification – Involves taking a measurement of a drilled concrete core immediately after the core is sampled and logging it so it can be compared to the thickness requirements in the job specifications.

Concrete Flexural Strength – Is the process of applying an increasing compressive load with a hydraulic concrete break machine on a cured concrete beam until the samples break completely. At that point a reading is taken of the maximum load applied and then the flexural strength is calculated.

Unit Weight & Density – Is the process of taking a sample of freshly batched concrete in the field and filling a container with a known volume to calculate the density and unit weight for determining out the yield of the concrete.

Slump of Fresh Concrete – Is performed by a concrete field technician immediately after he samples concrete in the field and helps determine the consistency and workability of fresh concrete.

Sampling Fresh Concrete – Is the process of sampling freshly mixed concrete in the field performed by a certified concrete field technician.

Concrete Air Content – Is the process of having a concrete field technician run a test on a sample of freshly mixed concrete either with a pressure meter or a volumetric air meter to determine the amount of air content.

Curing Concrete Specimens – Is the process of curing hardened concrete specimens in water filled temperature controlled curing tanks.

Capping Concrete Specimens – Is the process of finishing and capping the ends of cured concrete cylinder specimen with either a bonded sulfur or unbounded neoprene capping system to ensure proper specimen pacement in the concrete break machine.

Rebound Hammer Test – Enables a concrete field technician to test and calculate the hardness and strength of an existing concrete structure without damaging it by using a device that houses a rebound hammer.

Windsor Probe - Enables a concrete field technician to test and calculate the hardness and strength of an existing concrete structure with minimal damage by using a device that shoots a probe into the concrete and measures the depth penetration of this probe with a micrometer.

Grout Flow Test – Is a test performed by a concrete field technician to determine the flow of freshly mixed grout at a job site.

Temperature of Fresh Concrete – Is the process of having a concrete field technician take temperature reading of freshly mixed concrete in the field.
